Find Your Lost Property
Transport for London (TfL) take the responsibility for property found in the following services. More than 220,000 pieces of lost property are found each and every year by (TfL). Properties are kept for few days and then they are sent to TfL’s Lost Property Office.

- Black cabs (taxis)

Bus, Overground and Tubes
The properties found in the above transports are usually held locally for two days before being sent to TfL’s Lost Property Office. It is best to contact over the telephone or to visit the specific station if you have lost your property within past two days.
Docklands Light Railway (DLR)
The properties found in the Docklands Light Railway are kept at the Poplar station for 48 hours and then it is sent to TfL’s Lost Property Office.
The property found in London Taxis (Black Cabs) are handed over to the police station and then it is sent to TfL’s Lost Property Office.
Making an Enquiry
There are three ways to enquire whether your property has arrived at the Lost Property Office
- You can enquire by visiting the Lost Property Office (close to Baker Street underground station)
Visiting Hours – Monday to Friday (between the hours of 08:30 and 16:00)
- You can also enquire by telephoning 0343 222 1234
- You can make a written enquiry either by (Posting or faxing a letter) or (Completing the on-line form)
Details that you need to provide
- Name, Address and E-mail (If you have one)
- Details of property lost – as much detail as you can provide
- Details of where and when the property was lost
- For Mobile phones – Phone make and Model, Mobile phone service, IMEI number of the phone or your SIM card number

Properties can be returned to you in person at Baker Street or by Post. A restoration fee, the award for the taxi driver and postage costs need to be paid in advance before your property can be restored to you.
